When I saw this poster by Patrick Seymour and Orlando Arocena for the movie “Birdman” showcased on Blurppy this morning, I was pretty amused. Y’know…the whole “bird” thing… Ahem…in any event, this illustration is rad and although I have yet to see “Birdman”, it is high on my list of flicks to check out.

Illustrator Matt Tobin kills it with his tribute to “Wes Craven’s New Nightmare”. This meta horror classic ranks as one of my favorite films of the “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise, and brings back Heather Langenkamp for yet another go-round as protagonist Nancy Thompson.
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare by Matt Tobin
I’m blown away by the detail in this piece, and am more than a little sad that it’s not available for the mass market consumer. This is a private commission that Matt created for a collector. Here, in Matt’s own words, is a little more about the piece…
“I was lucky enough to be commissioned privately yet again to create a poster for one of my favourite movies in my favourite horror franchise, Wes Craven’s “New Nightmare”.
I really wanted to capture the Fairy Tale undertones the film emits. It pays homage to Hansel & Gretel and is based around Freddy being more of an evil entity that has existed for centuries. This pure evilness, rather than the wise-cracking dream stalker we’ve grown to love. I dont think a lot of people were ready for this film upon its release – but looking back its definitely one of the strongest films in the Elm St. franchise.
I really wanted to approach this poster with more of a simplistic, dark, and somewhat whimsical feel. I wanted Freddy to be a looming presence encapsulating our two protagonists. It was nice to be able to put Heather Langenkamp in this piece. She’s one of the all time scream queen / survivors and I feel shes extremely important to the Freddy mythos and the horror genre in general. This was so much fun to create!”

Skuzzles and artist Francesco Francavilla present a tribute to the classic 80’s slasher-comedy flick, Motel Hell. Francesco does a bang-up job of representing Farmer Vincent with his pig mask and cleaver intact. While the variant is sold out, there are still copies of the regular edition for sale over at Skuzzles!
