Bruce the Shark

Bruce the Shark

The other day I was perusing websites, hitting up the ones I frequent most, and I see this posting on Facebook about a three-day art show happening at Hero Complex Gallery in LA entitled “Smile, You Son of a Bitch!“. Now, for those who don’t know…and I would hope there wouldn’t be THAT many of you, “Smile, you son of a bitch!” is the line uttered by the late Roy Scheider before he fires the fatal shot into the gaping maw of the shark from “JAWS“.

This art show’s theme was “JAWS”, and being that “JAWS” is one of my all-time favorite films, up there with “The Exorcist” and “The Godfather”, how could I not get excited about this show?! Fortunately, a majority of the artwork included in the show is online for those of us who don’t live around or near the vicinity of Los Angeles. The show has everything from a shark built out of Legos to life-size puppets of Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw. The exhibit was made up of poster and print artists, fine artists, and special effects artists. I only wish I could have attended this show to see these awesome pieces in person. However, I’ll have to settle for picking a few of my favorite pieces from the show, and showcase them here.
